IOL: Herbs are vital against HIV, says Manto

IOL: Herbs are vital against HIV, says Manto

Now this just pisses me off.

Yes, it's true that nutritional education should be a priority for the department of health, but by indirectly implying that traditional medicines (for my non-SA readers, "traditional medicine" is the PC term for the ministrations of tribal witchdoctors) are as effective as anti-retrovirals in combatting HIV is reckless, irresponsible and just plain stupid.

This woman has to go.

  1. You're absolutely right.

When Jerry Springer visited our country a few years ago to host a show here for a few months, he made a statement that I agree with 100%.

He said that in this day and age, there is absolutely no excuse for anyone to contract HIV.

But when our own minister of health starts making ludicrous comments like this one, and it's not the first time, the facts start getting fuzzy in the minds of the superstitious public, and that's when people get infected, and that's when people start dying.

This is the real danger that pseudoscience and the propagation of woo woo alternative therapies represents - lazy thinking that loses lives.

    Infuriating.
